We design spaces that are beautiful, functional, and deeply personal.

INTERIOR DESIGNERS IN CONNECTICUT

ABOUT SEAWILLOW STUDIO

We take in everything—from your affinity for your grandfather’s typewriter to your soft spot for those antique postcards you found at Monger's Market—in order to curate a space that sings to you. We consider every detail—the way light moves throughout a room, the way textures interact, how many four-legged family members might need to curl up on your couch at any given moment—to ensure what we design for you has timeless appeal and functionality.

No stone (or ancient shag carpet) unturned

Our way

What is your home if not a place to gather and raise a glass, to curl up and sink in, to host holiday dinners and pre-bathtime dance parties? As function-first interior designers, we believe in curating spaces that are nothing short of delightful to live in. We design interiors that encourage interaction and inhabitation in the truest sense of the word—spaces you can feel, touch, live in, and love wildly (bring on the tiny fingerprints, glasses of red, and all).

Design that enriches your life

Our why

A home that’s collected, intentional, and all yours—for today and countless tomorrows to come.

Meet Emma MacHugh

I’ve always had a deep desire to create beautiful things. I was the kid whose sketchbook never left her hands—and, decades later, founded a floral design and event planning company. It was in that role where I honed so many of the skills I rely on regularly as an interior designer today—understanding floor plans and how to create flow, layering colors and textures to set a mood, coordinating with vendors, being able to hand-sketch any idea a client throws at me.

Always knows where to find that table you can't stop thinking about, reads 100 books a year, and loves old dogs

Through all of the success of my floral business, though, I couldn’t shake the lifelong pull I felt toward interior design. Flowers are fleeting, and I wanted a chance to create environments that endure and evolve with time. I took the leap by designing my own waterfront home in Milford, Connecticut. That snowballed unexpectedly into neighbors asking for help with their interior projects, and somehow it all led me here—where I get to spend my days combining my obsession with project management (find me manically crossing items off my to-do list) and my passion for making things both beautiful and functional.

Getting to pull a vision out of your mind and bring it into the world—as a real-live space you can settle into and share with your people—will forever be my favorite part of this job.
